Employees: 5% health, 9.15% employees’ pension, 0.50% unemployment (FY2026 general), plus 0.80% nursing care if age 40–64. This is a Tokyo-area kyokai kenpo style estimate; standard monthly remuneration grades are not modeled. Employer contributions are extra and not subtracted from take-home.
Freelancers: National Health Insurance ≈ 10% of this year’s profit, or ¥50,000 in the first year (municipal rates often sit between about 6% and 10%+). National Pension is ¥17,920 per month (¥215,040/year) for FY2026 if the checkbox is on.
Charged if you were a resident of Japan on 1 January. We treat “first year in Japan” as ¥0. Otherwise: 10% of (income − resident basic deduction ¥430,000 − social insurance), rounded down to ¥1,000, plus ¥5,000 per-capita tax and ¥1,000 forest environmental tax. The income-tax basic deduction is different and is not used here. This year’s payment often relates to last year’s income; the figure is a same-year planning combination.
Special-credit ceiling: ¥2,000 + (income levy × 20%) ÷ (90% − your income-tax rate × 1.021), rounded down. This is not a guarantee of a ¥2,000 out-of-pocket result. Mortgage credits and other donations can lower the room.
Supported: one employment or business income source, up to ¥100 million. Not supported: nonresident or treaty treatment, mixed or separately taxed income, loss carryovers, tax credits, consumption tax, standard monthly remuneration grades, or municipality-exact NHI. Results are not an amount due to the tax office.
